Since our inception, Corporate Search has been a leader in providing drug detection teams for hospital environments. Our journey began at Broadmoor Hospital, where we started with the passive screening of visitors.
This quickly expanded to other West London Health Trust hospitals, working alongside Broadmoor’s own search teams using both passive and proactive drug detection dogs. This foundational experience allowed us to master working within secure ward environments. We developed a profound understanding of how to deploy our dogs effectively and safely, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care. Over the years, our handlers have gained a deep, working knowledge of the critical role played by mental health professionals in secure units. This unique insight ensures our operations are conducted in a way that is supportive, never detrimental, to the treatment and recovery of patients.
Our Specialised Service Today As a company, we now specialise in deploying drug detection dogs exclusively within the mental health environment. We proudly serve a number of NHS Trusts and privately owned facilities. Our handlers are skilled in working collaboratively with hospital staff and patients, enabling us to provide a first-class, sensitive service.
Our detection dogs operate without prejudice, indicating only when they detect target scents. This objective approach provides invaluable benefits:
Due to our work at many different mental health units, we see a variety of different methods employed to smuggle and store prohibited items. Using this information and past search experience Corporate Search has now devised a basic physical search training package. This covers basic search techniques, drug and associated article recognition and refresher training on prohibited items. The course is designed to help staff conduct searches safely and effectively whilst complying with legislation and protocols.
Searching can be an embarrassing procedure for both staff and patients. The training is designed to give staff confidence in what they are doing and the skills to be able to carry out a search in the most respectful and sensitive way for the patient.
The basic search training content is tailored to each hospital’s protocols and requirements.
